moonwalkin’ with the king

http://img1.fantasticfiction.co.uk/images/x4/x24497.jpg

dear diary,

My bus trip back from Singapore today was spent reading a book that made me feel like the ghost of MJ was telling me his life story. ‘Moonwalk’ was written by Michael himself and i feel it’s really a story told from the heart. As much as he had wanted to reveal at least, of course. It was published in 1988 and I imagine he wrote the book so he could connect directly with his fans, hoping to be understood but seems like the more he tries doing so the more he is misunderstood. He’s a highly spiritual person and truly a kid at heart. I love how he isn’t afraid to talk about how he feels about something, the things that make him cry, the women he loved and how he makes a wish (omg, i’m not the only freak who makes wishes!)

All the things that men would normally avoid talking about because they’re afraid people would see them as being silly/immature/un-macho, he tells them wholeheartedly. And, he keeps a diary. He wears Mickey Mouse t-shirts for goodness sake! Why, such an amazing, passionate and beautiful person like him didn’t find his one true love is beyond me. Unless his ‘one true love’ was, well, music …or Diana Ross.

I know, i write as though he’s still alive. Because I want to believe he is. Because it’s scary to grow up and accept that it is the beginning of a completely new era – one without Michael Jackson in it. I admit I was very nervous during the 2010 countdown, and not because I was gonna go on stage and perform but because I didn’t know if i was ready for the new decade. Reading the book has given me new confidence and strength, and I feel relaxed. Thank you, MJ.

My attitude is if fashion says it’s forbidden, I’m going to do it.”

I loved that line. And I think it describes him perfectly.

Ze! x Charles of London

dear diary,

Charles of London got me to personally pick out dresses and jackets I liked from The Laden Showroom in Brick Lane for a photo shoot last summer. Aren’t they rad? It’s hard not to love the electro-rebel-glam-punk-rock look that makes them a rare find. Have a look and check out their online store at charlesoflondon.com

Madonna x Dolce & Gabbana

dear diary,

Here’s Madonna looking her stunning herself, more so playing the housewife for D&G‘s Spring 2010 campaign photographed by Steven Klein. “To have Madonna in our campaign is a dream come true”  say designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. Don’t really care what it is she’s campaigning in here, she makes just about anything look good.

That used to include you, Guy Ritchie.

Ze! on Previously Owned

dear diary,

Check out my Q&A with Fifi on this awesome blog, Previously Owned.

+ this lady blogger Fashion X K8 left this comment;

“Incredible interview Fi, I actually watched the MTV show Styl’d once and distinctly remember liking the music. She definitely has an amazing Santogold-esque way of styling and viewing personal style which is wonderful to see in a young ‘electro’ pop star.” – K8

Ze! on Liberating Style

dear diary,

I’m featured on LS (an American music and fashion online magazine) this month next to Black Luna Vintage, Shandra Jade, Alyona V, Dushky and more.

Supercharged lyrics and colours are what make up Ze!, an electropop singer originally from Kuala Lumpur. With hit tracks like ‘I Am Glam’ and ‘Boys I Like’ she brings a loud, smooth and above all glossy sound to the pop world. Not to be overlooked or underestimated Ze!’s style is a full force of zebra print, hot pink hues and with fashion forward styling. LS had to chat with her!” – Angela Clay.

Ze! interview on Voize

dear diary,

My interview with Charlene is out on Voize today;

“Ze! started gigging 10 years ago, as a rapper in an all-girl RnB group who have always idolised the female rapper called Left Eye from the female hip hop trio, TLC. After the group disbanded, she went solo and experimented with different genres of music and was looking for THE sound that would fit her. It wasn’t until she met her current producer, Ruben Debusschere, that she discovered dance music about 4 or 5 years ago. Ze’s new songs “I AM GLAM” and “CANDY” has just been picked up by MTV for their new show STYL’D – which first episode had just been premiered last Sunday! Her talented sister has also just won 3rd place at a DJ mixing championship. Need to know more about this spunky and talented individual? Then continue on reading the exclusive VOIZE interview with Ze!” – Charlene Joseph

I’m not gonna believe it until I fucking see it. With my eyes, and my ears and then I will shed a tear or two. Out of fucking joy.

The show will feature Kim Kardashian, Keri Hilson and Ashley Tisdale to name a few. So don’t miss its premiere this Sunday, November 1 at 10PM ET/PT.
