precious

dear diary,

i watched this because i wanted to see mariah carey’s acting and what she looks like without make-up. And sure enough, she still had the diva in her shining through. But the star of this movie wasn’t her, it was Gabourey ‘Gabby’ Sidibe who played her part well, and so did the lady who played mom. The movie was good, but wasn’t particularly mind-blowing for me. And I find it a little hard to believe that life can be THAT unlucky for anybody. I especially liked Joann, played by Xosha Roquemore, who was always enthusiastic in class and brought some life (and some fashion sense) into the otherwise pessimistic movie. Oh, and I didn’t know until the end credits that Oprah was one of em executive producers. That explains why Mariah’s in there.

world’s greatest dad

dear diary,

This is a funny movie, if you consider losing a son to a freak masturbation accident funny that is. I found it hilarious, and a teeny bit spooked out by the things people do to ‘get there’. And god forbid i ever have such an assholic son like Kyle Clayton. I like Robin Williams in this sort of role better than in his mainstream funny ones like Mrs Doubtfire. I’m thinkingĀ  ‘One Hour Photo‘ might have been his first freaky role. Yes? That was effin’ brilliant.

king of cali

dear diary,

i’ve loved evan rachel wood‘s acting ever since i first saw her in Thirteen. Amazing young actress, and i like that she’s crazy enough to date marilyn manson. Not that i would. I’d date eminem tho.

I’m not quite sure what’s up with me and uber slow dramas of late, getting sick of predictable movies. I guess.

he’s just not that into you

dear diary,

i climbed into bed and put this movie on my laptop cause i thought i haven’t seen it before but i have. Which goes to show how much of an impact it has made in my life. (boo). Anyhow, i think us girls like to think that the world revolves around us by analyzing every step a guy makes like he purposely wants to make us think what we think. But, at the end of the day it is NEVER just about us. Nothing is ever about somebody else, we’re always our own center of the universe. A guy could be nice to you, and genuinely not give a shit… at the same time there are those out there who does give a shit, but doesn’t quite know how to show it. People are complicated and never so simple.

This could only apply to men who’ve got it together, knows what he wants and isn’t afraid to go for it. In which case, we’d have ourselves a winner :)

up

dear diary,

just saw Up the movie, cutest movie of the year. The ‘dead wife’ in the movie reminded me of myself and my own enthusiasm for adventure. If i could travel the world in my house floated by thousands of helium balloons, i’d just wanna leave above the clouds forever and a day.

two lovers

dear diary,

just finished watching ‘two lovers‘ starring joaquin phoenix and gwyneth paltrow – who btw looks extra hot in the movie. and gee doesn’t it remind you of life imitating art? it’s a drama about a complete loser who’s torn between 2 women and hasn’t got enough balls to fight for the one he obviously loves more than the other. and then he does what most of them would – to give in and do what’s RIGHT.

Hah. So, yup, he deserves the second best and she ain’t gwyneth paltrow. I love happy endings!

the soloist

dear diary,

Starring one of my fave actors, robert downey jr, who plays Steve Lopez and jamie foxx as nathaniel ayers. A true story based on the book by Lopez about a homeless schizo musician who refuses to be helped. Lovely movie, and such is life that nothing turns out perfect but then again a perfect life is subjective. Not all exceptionally talented musicians were meant to be performers – the same way not all performers are neccessarily talented musicians. And seeing life from a homeless person’s point of view, never would think that they actually take pride in living on the streets. That they actually have a choice to live in but most CHOOSE to live out – is this really so? I recall bits of seeing this in LA when i was younger, they seemed to be decent people most of them except they’re all living in boxes. The touchy part for me was when Ayers puts his instrument away in his shopping cart, arranges his sleeping place amongst roaming roaches and rats, rests his head on a smelly looking pillow and says quietly, ‘I hope you sleep well, Mr Lopez, I hope the world sleeps well‘ and dozes away.

Makes me feel… guilty.

g.i. joe

dear diary,

Spent my saturday night with the girls watching g.i. joe because we wanted to see sienna miller. It’s good fun – if you can look past the mediocre acting and silly storyline – it was full of action, pretty people, missile hits and bombs from the beginning to the end. Not as much abs going on from the men as I would’ve expected but I cant help but wonder what mr snake eyes looks like underneath all that cover. Hmm, let’s all wait for the sequel – so long as he doesn’t turn out to be Jay Z, i’m good.

zohan and the mighty bush

dear diary,

I saw ‘Zohan’ last night and actually got turned on watching Adam Sandler – against my will. Never say never.

Adamantium + Muscles = :)

dear diary,

Okay, I cant help it. I’m a sucker for bulging muscles, tight abs, tight pants, tight tush, sleek hair, intense eyebrows and angry men. A movie with hardly any women, focus was all on Hugh Jackman/Wolverine surrounded by other abs-tastic creatures trying to outdo each other. How can I possibly complain? That was RM11 well spent.

Grr.

p/s: Daniel Henney was nice to look at too.
